Medical Cadet Corps

Description

The Medical Cadet Corps was a program of the Seventh-day Adventist church during the mid-twentieth century designed to prepare young people for non-combatantancy roles in the military. The concept was pioneered at Union College under the leadership of Dr. Everett Dick in 1934. Dick was later appointed director of the denominational program by the General Conference. At its peak, Medical Cadet Corps programs were operating at most Seventh-day Adventist colleges and many academies in North America, where an annual national camp was held in Grand Ledge, Michigan. In addition, programs were also started at many Adventist campuses in the Far East as well as locations in the Caribbean, Central America, South America, and Lebanon. Dick traveled to many of these international locations during his tenure as director. This collection includes photographs, pamphets, and images of other material from the Medical Cadet Corps Collection.
